Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) afflicts millions of people across the U.S. It can affect anyone; people of all ages, body types, and lifestyles are victims of this condition. Many celebrities even struggle with it! What exactly is sleep apnea, and who among the stars must deal with it? This blog post explains.
Sleep Apnea: The Basics
There are a few different types of sleep apnea, but the most common is OSA. It occurs when tissues in the upper airway obstruct the free flow of oxygen, leading to pauses in breathing and periods of reduced breathing. These episodes can happen dozens or even hundreds of times in a single night.
OSA is most common among obese people and older individuals. However, the reality is that no one is exempt from the possibility that this condition could affect them.
