Frequently Asked Questions – Answered!

Are you looking for a sleep apnea dentist near Benbrook? You likely have some unanswered questions, so we’re here to help! Here are the answers to some of the most common questions we are asked at Fort Worth Snoring & Sleep Center. If you don’t see the information that you’re looking for below, don’t fret. Give us a call and we’d be happy to address any of your questions or concerns.

How do I find the best place to get sleep apnea treatment?

The first thing to consider is what exactly you are looking for. For most patients, this includes someone close to home, who accepts your insurance and has excellent credentials. In addition, you should consider the type of care that you are looking for. For instance, if CPAP therapy hasn’t given you the result that you were looking for in the past, you may want to consider someone with alternative solutions, like oral appliance therapy. Lastly, you should get a feel for the practice. You can do this by reading online reviews, checking out doctor and staff bios, and scheduling a consultation to visit the office.

What do you do if you can't afford a sleep dentist?

Medical and oral health treatment can sound pricey at first, but there are some options out there that can help. For instance, if you have access to a health insurance plan through your employer or by another means, this can go a long way in making your sleep apnea treatment more affordable. If insurance isn’t an option for you, you may be able to save by applying for a low-to-no-interest payment play through CareCredit. Let us know if you need help applying.

What is the difference between CPAP therapy and oral appliance therapy?

CPAP therapy involves wearing a mask that covers your nose and mouth. It is connected to a tube that allows air pressure to keep the airway open during sleep. This tends to be a preferred method for those with severe sleep apnea, but some people find it uncomfortable and inconvenient, so they are less likely to comply with their treatment. On the other hand, oral appliance therapy consists of wearing a custom-made mouthpiece during sleep. This works by shifting the jaw into a forward position, preventing the airway from collapsing. Sometimes, a combination of CPAP and oral appliance therapy is ideal.

Are oral appliances comfortable to wear?

Many patients find oral appliances comfortable to wear in comparison to a sleep mask. Oral appliances are customized for each patient's mouth and made of lightweight material. They are made to ensure maximum comfort and effectiveness. If you ever have concerns or issues regarding your oral appliance, don’t hesitate to contact us.
